I haven't posted much lately regarding the turmoil going on at the church I serve. After over a year of dealing with the crap, I think I finally stopped obsessing over a lot of it and quit whining about it here. Well, yesterday we held a Spiritual Renewal conference for our membership, led by a consultant from our denomination. It was much better than I thought it would be. The church received solid teaching on biblical conflict resolution. Then we were all sent off to pray for an hour by ourselves, using a guide geared toward confession and cleansing. It was very thorough and balanced - good stuff. When we came back together, we were led to meditate on
Psalm 51:10-13, and then read it out loud in the group. One by one people in the congregation read the passage. Over and over and over we heard the words of healing from scripture. Almost a mystical experience (even though that word would scare most of the people engaging in it).
The present problems for this church are far from over, but this was a cup of cool water to some parched throats. I'm praying we can make a habit of this kind of thing.
